General Information Reporting to the Operations Team Leader, the successful candidate will work on a team that operates and maintains a high pressure natural gas pipeline system, recip engine driven, turbine engine-driven, electric-driven compressor station, gas measurement facilities, microwave communication systems, and other related facilities. Field work includes locating and visually marking subsurface pipeline infrastructure with paint and or flags, overseeing and managing pipeline or utility crossings and encroachments, performs routine right of way maintenance, inspection of the right of way and associated assets, and completion of the required Department of Transportation (DOT)/Company documentation. Maintains records for required state, federal, and company procedures and participates in administrative duties. Responsibilities * Assists in the operation & maintenance of natural gas pipelines and associated facilities; * Performs pipeline maintenance activities such as leak repair, installs cathodic protection system and anodes, clears right-of-way and assists with tie ins of mainline valves; * Performs pipeline locates through one call system; * Performs periodic duties: patrols pipeline rights-of-ways, assists with leak surveys, repairs drips, and monitors heaters; * Performs or assists with removing pipeline freezes and well drips; * Communicates with general public, contractors, landowners and government relative to natural gas operations; * Performs general housekeeping duties for company facilities as required; * Operates company trucks, small dozer, brush hog and/or backhoe to perform operations and maintenance duties; * Periodically assists in repair of leaks (using Gas Tracs/Gas Scopes) and/or construction jobs; * Using PC and/or hand held device, completes Work Orders, enters data into Job Plans, creates new Work Orders, etc. in CMMS (Computerized Maintenance Management System); * Other tasks as required. Qualifications and Education Qualifications * Thorough knowledge of gas-fired large-bore reciprocating engines, turbine engines, reciprocating and centrifugal gas compressors, and standby generators; * Able to complete reports and records clearly and legibly; * Must be able to obtain DOT driver classification; * Above-average ability to understand verbal and written instructions, and possess basic math skills; * Above-average ability physical stamina when lifting, bending, climbing, pushing and pulling tools and equipment while accomplishing tasks; * Above-average skills as good team worker and ability to work cooperatively with co-workers; * Must demonstrate basic personal computer (PC) skills, and must have the ability to obtain basic skills in using a hand held computer; * Must be able to obtain basic skills in using CMMS. Education / Experience * High school diploma or GED is required; * A minimum of 6 years of experience in relevant industry related work is preferred; * General knowledge of regulators and/or meters preferred. *This position requires candidates to: * Have and maintain a valid driver's license; * Provide a driver's abstract for review; * Successfully complete a pre- employment medical screening, including drug and alcohol testing; * Be available for overtime, extended work hours, and call-outs as needed; * Travel to other company locations for temporary assignments, meetings or training which would involve some overnight stays away from home. *Depending on the qualifications of the applicants, the successful candidate may be offered a position at a more appropriate level and/or ladder.
