Main Duties and Responsibilities The Associate Director of Pipeline Planning and Analytics provides cross-functional strategic and operational management and leadership to pipeline management and the Biologics Project Manager on the Product Development Team (PDT). This role is responsible for providing expertise in industry benchmarking with a focus on strategic analysis and operational management and analytics. The tools for analysis include Planisware, Data Warehouse, industry benchmarking forums and industry research. Management and Leadership Oversee development and execution of process and procedure improvement initiatives within pipeline management and partner with other departments within MedImmune and AstraZeneca to gain alignment and ensure new processes and procedures meet organizational goals Assess, develop, and implement tools designed to facilitate operational excellence initiatives within pipeline management Industry Benchmarking Participate in industry benchmarking forums including Clarivate (CMR) Produce annual benchmarking reports and insight for consumption by governance and functional leadership and project teams Distill large amounts of information into useable and accurate data points that form the foundation of analytics regarding cycle time, success rates, benchmarking, portfolio reviews, long range operational planning resources and resource forecasting Strategic Planning Lead and/or actively participate in developing strategic documents and efforts to impact portfolio value Contribute strategic input for senior management or governance reviews Represent the Pipeline Planning and Analytics group while collaborating internally with stakeholders at MedImmune and the broader AstraZeneca organization Planisware Reporting and Analytics Ensure at all times the robustness of data captured within Planisware such that PDTs, Function Leaders, and Governance trust the data and use Planisware as the prime project data source Assist project managers in generating analyses of timeline, resource, and budget information that facilitates scenario planning, contingency planning, risk assessment and management, problem-solving, and decision-making across the MedImmune portfolio Build, maintain and troubleshoot Data Warehouse reports for the end users while providing general reporting expertise along with best practices Essential Requirements Education BA/BS in a science or engineering discipline or equivalent work experience is required. An advanced degree (e.g. MBA, MS) is preferred Experience Product Development Process High level knowledge and awareness of the overall pharmaceutical product development process, including stages of development and the role of different functional areas as demonstrated by 3-5 years of relevant work experience Experience in working on a cross functional team in a matrix organization Project Management Expertise in the use of enterprise-wide pharmaceutical project management software solutions. MS Project and/or Planisware experience is required in a pharmaceutical/biotechnology environment Understanding of financial and resource planning systems and processes and the ability to coordinate project and portfolio level budget and resource estimates and manage actuals vs. plan Other Experience/Abilities Requires a high degree of analytical expertise in assimilating data, identifying trends, and utilizing data to recommend business solutions Familiarity and comfort with budget reporting Experience in planning and analytics, key reporting and budget analytics Experience developing, using and presenting metrics, dashboards and benchmarking data to a wide variety of audiences Capacity to manage data-driven analysis of business processes to enable operational changes which drive efficiency, effectiveness and/or cost savings Must be professional, dedicated, and detail-orientated and have the flexibility to travel domestically and internationally. Excellent oral and written communication, interpersonal, analytical, and computer skills. Effective problem solving and analytical skills to tackle and manage a broad range of issues and projects and deliver innovative solutions Strong organizational skills required, including good time management skills.
